Our Current Projects

MATE, in collaboration with Yotor, a dedicated humanitarian organization, is thrilled to announce the commencement of our pilot projects in two subsistence farming villages in Ethiopia: Baso Liben, Arat Amba Gojam, and Tibaga, situated near Addis Zemen in South Gondar.

These impactful initiatives are primarily funded by Rotary International, contributing 80% of the budget, while 20% comes from the dedicated volunteers of Yotor, MATE, and local farmers.

To date, we have successfully achieved our initial goal by procuring two 120-horsepower Chery tractors. We have also established specialized teams focused on mosquito control and agricultural enhancement within the project communities and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Debre Markos University.

As part of our efforts, we are collecting critical pre-intervention economic data before the tractor farming initiative, along with entomological data through the deployment of mosquito traps and larvae dippers. Financial and research contributions from both local and international partners support this work.

Recently, Rotary International donated two tractors to this community project, with the first tractor delivered to Debre Markos University just one week ago. This collaboration represents a significant advance towards improving agricultural productivity and combating mosquito-borne diseases in the region.
